Cobram Anglican Grammar School is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every child and young person is respected, valued and protected from harm.
The safety, wellbeing and best interests of children are our highest priority. We have zero tolerance for child abuse and are committed to preventing harm, identifying risks early and taking appropriate action to protect children.
We are committed to:
Child safety and wellbeing: Embedding child safety in our leadership, decision-making, culture and everyday practices.
Respect and inclusion: Treating every child with dignity and respect, recognising their individual needs, abilities, backgrounds and circumstances. We do not tolerate racism, racial discrimination or behaviour that undermines a child's dignity, identity or sense of belonging.
Cultural safety: Respecting and valuing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, their identities, cultures and rights, and actively promoting culturally safe and inclusive environments. We are committed to identifying, challenging and addressing racism and racial discrimination.
Student voice and participation: Empowering children to understand their rights, express their views, participate in decisions that affect them and be taken seriously.
Safe people and environments: Taking appropriate steps to ensure staff, volunteers and contractors are suitable to work with children, understand their child safety responsibilities and are appropriately supervised. We work to ensure our physical and online environments minimise risks of harm.
Speaking up and responding: Encouraging children, families, staff and community members to raise concerns and contribute to our child safety practices, and responding to complaints, disclosures and allegations of harm promptly, sensitively and appropriately.
Accountability and improvement: Meeting our child safety obligations, providing appropriate child safety training and education, and regularly reviewing and improving our policies, procedures and practices.
Child safety is everyone's responsibility. All staff, volunteers, contractors, families and members of our school community have a role to play in protecting children and promoting their wellbeing.
We are committed to listening to children, taking concerns seriously and acting in their best interests.
For information about our child safety practices, reporting concerns or making a complaint, please refer to our Child Safe Policy and relevant reporting procedures, available on this website, or contact the School.
