Our History: A timeline

Founding Principal, Mr Andrew Williams, worked tirelessly to establish the College in the local community. Founding members of staff were Mrs Tricia Seccull, Mrs Heather Stammers, Mrs Simone Tynan and Mrs Allyson Willis. The original College consisted of one building incorporating the Principal's office, Library, staffroom and two classrooms. Christ the King Anglican College was built through the generosity and vision of many in the local community and the Anglican Diocese of Wangaratta. Bishop David Farrer was the first chairman of the College, while Fr. Lyall Cowell was a driving force behind the College in its early years.

The Gearing Wing being built in 2001

2000 – What is now known as Cobram Anglican Grammar School opens its doors as 'Christ the King Anglican College' (CKC). The College had a founding enrolment total of 26 students spread across Years 5, 6 and 7. The original College site was once a thriving orchard. The prominent local Cornish family generously donated the land.

2001 – The Gearing Wing is added, greatly expanding the number of available classrooms.

2003 The original administration building opens.

2005 – The first CKC students complete Year 12 and obtain their Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). The Science Wing is also constructed this same year.

2006 – The first group of Prep (Foundation) students join the College. Since then, the Junior School (Foundation to Year 6) has steadily grown, establishing a great history of addressing the academic and pastoral needs of its students.

2009 – The Arts and Technology Wing opens at the southern end of the College. This facility enabled the College to enrich its offerings in the Arts. Students now have access to a modern, well equipped visual and ceramic arts classroom with its own kiln.

2010 – The current Library and Junior School classroom blocks are constructed. The new facilities open in 2011, together with a senior computer lab and a new sports oval, replacing the original orchard.

2012 – Sees the opening of more classroom facilities for Junior School students. These facilities were enhanced with the addition of the current adventure playground.

2014 – In response to increasing enrolments, additional classrooms are added, including a dedicated Food Technology room.

2015 – Christ The King Anglican College becomes part of the Anglican Schools Commission and subsequently changes its name to 'Cobram Anglican Grammar School'.

2016 – Sees the construction of a covered basketball court and an area that includes what is now the school gymnasium.

2017 – Further construction sees the Performing Arts Centre be developed and the Arts Technology Wing extended.

2019 – The school's Agriculture Centre is extended, enabling students to grow a variety of crops, fruit and vegetables.

2020 – The pedestrian crossing and development of Campbell Road upgrades the front of the school.

2021– The sub-school structure expands, now functioning as two instead of three – Junior School (Foundation to Year 6) and Senior School (Years 7 to 12).

Cobram Anglican Grammar School is an exciting place to be presently and promises to be even more so in the future as we continue to develop and implement our School Master Plan and expand our facilities.
